Five Minute Challenge

At the suggestion of Allison over at Beautiful in Him, I’m taking her challenge. For five minutes I’m going to take the topic “unexpected” and write unedited (I know you’ll appreciate this, Kristina!) and unscripted. Ok, here goes!

Go!

Unexpected
She was sitting by herself on the bleachers watching her daughter cheer. We ambled into easy conversation about how we ended up at this particular spot on this particular day. I moved to town when I was a teenager, by my own choice I might add. I wanted to escape the way of life I had always known. Yes, I often wonder if I made the right choice, but no, I don’t regret it. I’m here and I’m happy. Best of all, I am at peace. I could tell I hit a soft spot. Her eyes welled up and she asked me if we could get together some time. I told her that would be wonderful. “My friends just don’t understand. I can’t really talk to them about this issue because they just don’t get it.” Sister, I do get it because I’ve been there. Call me any time. I never say no to friends. We exchanged phone numbers and somehow I knew in my spirit that God had just done something amazing.

Stop!

Ok, now it's your turn. Write for five minutes and I dare you not to edit. Link back here and tell others to take the challenge. Leave a comment for the person who linked before you. Have fun!

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to write my unexpected five minute challenge in here, but I'm doing it anyway, and since writing grammatically correct will get in the way of my train of thought, i'm not going to write any punctuation...maybe that will drive some people crazy haha, but here it goes:

I'm sitting here, in an entirely comfy chair with a strange design waiting for my writing class. It's such a sunny day and i wish i could be outside, but its still cold. i should be writing my research paper, but its been really hard to focus on just research. anyways, the sun is beautiful. today God presented me with another new adventure having to do with a certain someone that i like. we were sitting at lunch with a few other people from my freshman seminar class talking about a school project that we were going to do, and of course realizing to myself that he's not interested and trying to act "normal" in front of him, my teacher suggests that we work together for a certain section of this project. great, im thinking. right when i finally accept that he's not interested, or that nothing is going to happen, it feels like God puts a new situation having to do with him right in front of me. what is this? haha...well that's my interesting story for the day, i guess i wrote about that because this incident just happened and was the first thing on my mind when deciding to take this challenge. i think i have 30 seconds left now, oops no...times up.

In the quiet of morning, before the bustle of the world outside breaks in, I still myself to listen. The quiet makes it so much easier to hear Stillness, where peace resides. Though I’ve yet to leave this chair, I walk through a garden more lush than those that make it into magazines. The scents are more incredible than I could have imagined... olfactory sensory perception if you will. The Rose is so deep and so tenderly sweet. The spice of life is healing for my pain - the hyssop. And the mountain rains, early and latter springs, wash me anew with hope. Have you walked in the garden lately? Have you leapt in the spice-laden hills? Have you listened to the Dove? Have you considered His love? Have you given back what you’ve been given? That bustling world, it’s broken. But it’s safely in His hands. In this world, you will have tribulation, but BEHOLD...

Stop!

I love you, Sherry! ~Faithful Pen~ ;)
